*I wrote the following almost 2 months ago now, when I came to the realization that the Lord was calling me into a new journey, and that I would have to leave the Rock in order to do that. At the time the Rock’s future wasn’t completely settled, as it obviously is now. Please forgive any redundancies between this and our final newsletter; this article was/is my personal goodbye, and while the final newsletter and podcast sum things up well, I thought since I wrote it I might as well post one final article, for old times sake.*

Dear friends,
We hope the title of this newsletter is not too much of a shock. Undoubtedly it will catch some off guard, as perhaps we were a little caught off guard in the last few months as the Lord began to unfold the next step in our journey. But – with much fondness, sentimentality, and joy in our hearts – we are writing today to share some exciting news, and to profoundly thank all of you who have ventured to journey with us here at the Rock over the last decade. The Kingdom Doesn’t Forcefully Advance: A Fresh Look at Mt 11:12
Re-published with Permission. This is an article written by a friend and I appreciate this article on a couple of levels. Firstly, I appreciate the health of his thinking on Matthew 11:12 and secondly Steve’s perspective on scholarship. Hope you enjoy it and are encouraged!

I read this book a month ago and really enjoyed it! I have really been enjoying the insights of Ignatius of Loyola. Far from religious rules and mechanical faith, I am finding Ignatius of Loyola’s thoughts and ideas very practical in all aspects of my journey with God. “What’s Your Decision?” is a free download here until June 30, 2010.
“About the book: Where should I go to college? Whom should I marry? Should I change careers? When—and where—should I retire? All of us have important decisions to make throughout our lives. Yet without a sound process in place for making key decisions, we are likely to question whether or not our final decision was a good decision; more to the point, we will never feel fully confident that our decision was what God truly desired for us.
Ultimately, we come to understand that a God decision always precedes a good decision—that is, inviting God into the decision-making process gives us the confidence and clarity necessary to make good choices.”

With perhaps some bewilderment they answered “Some say you are a great teacher, some say a prophet like Jeremiah or Elijah maybe John the baptist”. Then, like the second of a ‘one – two punch’ He asks – “What about you guys? Who do you say that I am?” Read the rest of this entry »
